In his new role, Lindeman will continue to strengthen the close and longstanding cooperation between the Nordic Region and the Baltic states. “In the run-up to 2030, positive solutions will be more crucial than ever in my time in international work. We stand stronger together – and the Nordic-Baltic cooperation has important instruments and resources to help us solidify and create robust societies that may withstand external shocks and attacks on our democracies, trust, and sense of cohesion. My mission is to use these instruments with Lithuanian partners to the utmost, be creative and bold,” he says. Through funding programmes such as Prosperous Future, now administered by the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania, these efforts also extend to supporting Ukraine and the democratic forces of Belarus.
Lindeman takes on the role at a critical moment, with societal security, integration, and cooperation at the forefront of the regional agenda. From his first day, he will focus on supporting Lithuania and its Nordic partners in building strong, innovative, and democratic societies, prepared to meet both current challenges and future opportunities.
