Since the debut in 1998, the writer has released a number of bestsellers. For the novel “Hotel Silence”, called one of the most memorable contemporary Icelandic novels, the author was awarded the Icelandic Literature Prize in 2017, and the Nordic Council Literature Prize the following year. The work was also included in the prestigious Italian shortlist Premia Strega Europeo in 2018.

“The distinguishing feature of Ólafsdóttir is the small journeys we embark on to save ourselves and those who care about us. She is the greatest creator of the heart map,”- this is how the writer is introduced by another famous Icelandic writer Sjón.

The writer will be interviewed by Elžbieta Kmitaitė, translator and lecturer at the Scandinavian centre at Vilnius University.

The event will be held in English with simultaneous translation into Lithuanian.
