Discussion series: Nordic Talks. The Welfare State

How to create a welfare state? What new challenges do aging societies face? How to reduce regional exclusion and raise the quality of education? Answers to these and other questions will be sought in the series of events "Nordic Talks: The Welfare State". The series is organized by the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania and IQ magazine.

International conference “THE STATE OF WELFARE: WHAT, WHEN, HOW, WHY?”

 

Discussion “Lifelong learning is essential to reduce social exclusion”. With the rapid change in business models, the digitalization of the economy and industry, robotization, many are becoming redundant. How are people staying in the labor market for as long as possible and moving to value-added sectors? What is the experience of the Nordic countries.

Discussion “How to ensure a coherent circular economy chain?”. Participants: Jaroslav Neverovičius, Chief Adviser to the President on Environment and Infrastructure, Professor Žaneta Stasiškienė, Head of the Institute of Environmental Engineering, Kaunas University of Technology, Martynas Nagevičius, Vice President of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, and Malene Bering Beitzel, Project Manager, State of Green (Denmark).

Discussion “Getting Rid of Discrimination: Equal Opportunities”. Participants: Agneta Skardžiuvienė, Equal Rights Ombudsman, Margarita Jankauskaitė, Equal Opportunities Development Center expert, Annette Risberg, Professor at Copenhagen Business School and Karen Elleman, former Minister of Equal Opportunities, Member of the Danish Parliament.

Discussion “The transition to a green economy: cautious or determined?”. Participants: Domantas Tracevičius, Founder of Žiedinė ekonomika and Darius Imbrasas, Chief Economist of the Macroeconomics and Forecasting Division of the Bank of Lithuania, Marleena Ahonen, SITRA Specialist of the Circular Economy Biodiversity Fund (Finland) and Stig Traavik, NORAD Climate, Energy and Head of the Environment Department.
