The nominations for the Nordic Council prizes 2018

Nordic and Baltic delegates are meeting with the Foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius and the Minister of Health Aurelijus Veryga on the first day of Nordic Council session. Together with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom they discussed relations with Russia, security issues and opportunities for a greater cooperation in the health care system.

The Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) and the United Kingdom have been attending Nordic Council sessions since 2011. This year the event was attended by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Theresa May.

The Nordic Council prizes has become an official part of the whole event. Erna Solberg and Crown Princess Mette-Marit will award five prizes for the achievements in literature, children and young people’s literature, film, music, nature and the environment. These awards aim to increase the interest in the Nordic countries and promote its culture and languages. The five winners will receive a prize of DKK 350,000.

About the Nordic Council prizes

The Nordic Council was formed in 1952 as an official body for formal inter-parliamentary cooperation. It currently has 87 Nordic members from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland. Its purpose is to support and develop cooperation in the region in terms of law enforcement, culture, environment, public transport, social politics and economics.
