The “Nordic Children’s Book Flood” is an exceptional event in the world of children’s literature. The interactive exposition, which will run until October, introduces young readers and educators to classical and contemporary Nordic children’s literature and its heroes. After visiting the exhibition, children will immerse themselves in a cognitive adventure – they will listen to fairy tales, solve tasks and even write poetry themselves. The initiative aims not only to present Nordic literature for children, but also to develop children’s reading habits in innovative ways.

The exhibition “Nordic Children’s Book Flood” was held for the first time in 2018 in Iceland, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Nordic House. In 2019, the interactive exposition traveled to Latvia, and this year it is being organized for the first and only time in Lithuania, in the Panevėžys County Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė Public Library.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Jurgita Bugailiškienė, Director of the Panevėžys County Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė Public Library, Rimantas Mikaitis, Vice-minister of Culture, Rytis Mykolas Račkauskas, Panevėžys City Mayor, Helén Nilsson, Director of the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania, Sabina Westerholm, Director of the Nordic House in Reykjavik, Icelandic artist, illustrator, writer Kristín Ragna Gunnarsdóttir, Justinas Vancevičius, the leader of the literary cognition program for children and adolescents “Vaikų žemė”, illustrator, writer Kotryna Zylė and architect Justinas Dūdėnas.
