On 1 April 2019, the Nordic Council of Ministers opened a new round of applications for funding from two of its programmes: the programme for Nordic-Russian Cooperation and the programme for NGOs in the Baltic Sea Region. The idea is to encourage initiatives that will build capacity and strengthen networks through activities such as informing each other of experiences and best practices.

The Nordic Council of Ministers has earmarked DKK 10 million for projects involving co-operation in the Baltic Sea Region and North-West Russia. The overall objective of the program is to promote civil society and strengthen cross border co-operation and thereby contribute to the development of the region. Focus areas are social & health, children & youth, education, culture, gender and environment.

The programme for Nordic-Russian co-operation has earmarked DKK 3.5 million for a general open call for funding applications and DKK 3 million for its Civil Society & Human Rights initiative. The NGO programme has allocated DKK 3.5 million to fund projects in the whole of the Baltic Sea Region, including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Belarus.

NGOs play a prominent role in the Nordic Council of Ministers’ co-operation with the Baltic States, Poland, Belarus and Northwest Russia within a number of its priority areas, such as the environment and progress towards democracy, but also as partners in building networks and cross-border co-operation in the Baltic Sea Region.

The over all objective of the programme is to promote co-operation between Nordic, Baltic, Polish, Belarusian and Russian NGOs to underline the key role that NGOs play in building networks and cross-border co-operation in the Baltic Sea Region. The programme has existed since 2006, and NGOs are invited to apply for funding from the programme for international co-operation projects.

Application deadline: 20 May 2019 (23:59:59 CET).

Before applying please read the guidelines carefully.

The application process is electronic and in English.
